The Women's Economic Round Table |
|
The Women's Economic Round Table program is now part of the Knight-Bagehot Fellowship Program in Economics and Business. WERT's mission of featuring women experts as a vehicle to educate the public has accomplished meritorious results. The women who served as panel moderators and participants, became models and resource people for others. The programs form a unique collection of the important issues and policies confronting the last quarter century in economics, business, and finance. The archive is housed as a permanent collection at the Schlesinger Library of the Radcliffe Center for Advanced Studies at Harvard University. The fifty page Table of Contents of the collection will be accessible to the public and researchers over the Internet. One unique aspect of this collection is its emphasis on women experts as the vehicle for educating the public. The program participants (about 400 women and 100 men) are business executives, academics, unionists, journalists, and government leaders. They include U.S. cabinet members, senators, congressional representatives, and foreign ministers as well as other high ranking government officials from Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America. Papers and media files document 26 years of Round Table events, award presentations to distinguished honorees and prize winners, and almost 200 panels about national and global economics, business, and finance. The primary mission of highlighting women experts who was achieved, and their valuable contribution is now recognized in perpetuity at the Schlesinger Library.
